Artists are always influenced by others whose work they admire. I particularly like the composition and value range of Armin Landeck's drypoints, and have tried to imagine how they might have appeared in watercolor. The rhythm of values across the Landeck pieces is almost musical.
I had in mind the simplicity and intensity of Alvaro Castagnet's painting "Old South" when I painted Eventide in Melk. |
